To work with local community groups, schools and employers to provide support and coaching to people living in typically deprived areas.  Striving for change by equipping people with the life skills for a brighter future.

My Story

Growing up in Wisewood, Sheffield I had no confidence and didn’t think I was very good at anything. Diagnosed with ADHD when I was younger and with no real support, I had tried many sports all of which just weren’t for me.

After spending Saturday evenings watching the Rocky films with my family, I was inspired to attend my local boxing gym.  Over time with the right work ethic to just ‘turn up’, I developed a passion for boxing and a desire to better myself. No one else at the time was doing boxing so it felt quite special. It really gave me a focus and something to plough my energy in to. The discipline, passion and desire that came with it helped me to navigate through life and control my emotions when faced with difficult situations.

It was at my local boxing gym where I met Glyn, and from the first day I met him he became an instant role model for me. I didn’t realise this at the time, nor did I realise the impact he would have on my life from that day.  Every word he ever said to me had meaning and I held onto those words and conversations in a way he probably would never have intended them to be.

Glyn is the most charismatic man I know and he controls every room and every situation he finds himself in.  His influence over my life began when I was 11 years old and continues to this day. He demands a certain amount of respect, responsibility and accountability from everyone he knows. If you don’t hold yourself with a degree of respect and class he will bring that out of you as a child or young adult and it is this that helps to equip individuals for their future, with or without boxing.

I’m a complicated person and having Glyn as a role model whilst growing up made my the professional boxer I became and the man I am today.  I now want use what Glyn taught me to help and inspire the future generation in the way Glyn did for me.

Speedy Fitness was founded to provide boxing training and grew from my existing client base when members of my local community began to reach out to me to support them through training.

One particular client was battling alcohol misuse challenges and only when I was invited to an event held by the AA to recognise the  efforts of their service users, did I become aware of the positive impact fitness, boxing and the right guidance could have on a person’s

life. I was humbled by my client’s acceptance speech where he mentioned me as being a positive and important influence on his road to sobriety.

I was thrilled to have played a part in my client bettering his life in such a huge way and was keen to explore how I could help other people in similar situations do the same. With this in mind I began to train a group as part of a mental health program that was funded by

their employer. I saw such positive changes in the groups mental and physical wellbeing and was again humbled by the gratitude they shared for my support in finding a way through difficult and stressful times with boxing and fitness.

Around this time I was approach by a school who asked if I was able to help with some students that were displaying challenging behaviors. Unfortunately, I was in a rented space and finances to support the group were beyond what the school were able to pay. This got me thinking and I wondered how many other vulnerable groups and organisations were experiencing the same issues.

I am confident that sharing my experiences along with fitness and boxing training is helping people better themselves. With numerous testimonials from clients with various personal challenges such as addictions, anxiety and many who were high risk or previous

offenders wanting to stay on the straight and narrow – all expressing the positive impact fitness through boxing has on their lives. I want to help, and in particular help people who have barriers to train such as finance and the awareness to do so by providing support and guidance to anyone vulnerable or in need of positive steps with regards to their wellbeing.

My idea grew from here with a vision to empower those who lack confidence or guidance to believe in themselves and their capabilities. To help them reach their full potential by equipping them with the skills and tools to physically and mentally attack life positively. Fitness

through boxing, paired with my personal experiences of life challenges can help people to do this.

Fitness through boxing can challenge and empower people. Learning boxing skills and achieving targets, seeing themselves improve at something challenging, whilst getting fitter and stronger can help teach someone of their true capabilities.

The boxing community is an extremely supportive one and one which has many positive and influential role models.  I am keen to share my experiences and show that a different way of life is achievable and that it is possible to be strong, confident, popular, respected and capable whilst also walking a legal path.

Boxing and fitness have equipped me with so many life skills that I have shared with my clients over the years. I now want to share those experiences with others who may be suffering barriers to begin their wellbeing journeys.
